Starring: Bugs Bunny & Elmer Fudd Release Date: 10/31/1942 Credits Supervisor: I. Freleng...Story: Michael Maltese...Animation: Phillip Monroe...Musical Direction: Carl W. Stalling Synopsis (From "Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies: A Complete Illustrated Guide to the Warner Bros. Cartoons" By Jerry Beck & Will Friedwald) Elmer Fudd is reading "Stalking Wild Game" while walking in the woods. A bear knocks him down, but Fudd uses hypnotism on the grizzly, transforming him into a canary. The bear flies away. Elmer encounters Bugs Bunny and begins to hypnotize him. The rabbit hands Fudd a helium balloon which sends the hunter into the sky, passing the bird-brained bear. Bugs offers to catch Fudd, who crashes to earth, falling through the bunny's open-bottomed basket. Fudd chases Bugs to his hole, and they have a tug of war with his rifle. The frustrates Elmer, who begins to cry "How can I hypnotize you if you don't cooperate?" Bugs relents, but turn the tables on Fudd by hypnotizing the hunter into thinkink he's a rabbit. The plan works too well--Elmer suddenly becomes "wacky," resuming the rifle tug of war. Bugs asks, "Who's the comedian in this picture?" Elmer sneaks up behind Bugs and force feeds him carrots. Bugs chases the screwball hunter underground, where a hypnotic battle takes place. Fudd returns to normal and runs off, while Bugs takes off--into the air! "I'm due at the airport--I'm the B-19!" Review Guest review by: Jack Tatay Co-Moderator of Termite Terrace Trading Post I liked this cartoon, It sort of reminds me of that other cartoon where the roles of Bugs & Elmer were reversed (you know, when Bugs says, "I'm Elmer J. Fudd, I own a mansion and a yacht") It sort of makes one wonder what happens when there are two Bugs Bunny's, but it didn't seem to dwell on that for very long. I like the ending and I have always liked the cartoons that show Bugs get frustrated. The animation was, as always, great!
